Xignite Resets the Standard for Market Data Delivery From the Cloud

Launch of CloudFiles and CloudStreaming Dramatically Expands Reach of Cloud

CHICAGO – Sept. 10, 2013 – Xignite Inc., the leading provider of market data cloud services, announced major enhancements to its Market Data Cloud platform. The cloud-based platform provides access to real-time, historical, and reference financial data across all asset classes for easy integration into mobile, web, or corporate applications. The company will debut the new services today at the Inside Market Data Chicago 2013 conference.

The new CloudFiles and CloudStreaming market data delivery options complement Xignite’s existing CloudAPIs and offer additional methods to power financial applications. When first introduced, Xignite’s market data APIs set the bar for ease of use, quality and performance for the market data industry. The company’s two new delivery options have raised the bar on ease of data integration to new heights. Developers can download large amounts of reference and historical data or even small amounts of real-time streaming data directly into their apps via the cloud.

“Today, 90% of the innovation in financial services is running in the cloud, and 90% of that is running in Amazon Web Services,” says Stephane Dubois, CEO and Founder of Xignite. “FTP is 40 years old this year and it is hard to believe that antiquated process is still the way most financial firms obtain their data. If you want to drive innovation and improve customer experience, you need to focus on your apps and not how you get data to them.”

CloudFiles let developers extract their own customized sets of financial “big data” such as historical trade and quote data, historical valuation data or company fundamentals. The data can be delivered, directly to a mobile or web application in the Amazon cloud, eliminating the need for slow, unreliable FTP downloads.

CloudStreaming lets developers deliver streaming real-time data such as equity or FX quotes directly from the cloud to the user’s device, eliminating the need for developers to build and maintain their own costly infrastructure. CloudStreaming does not use proprietary protocols, but instead is based on open industry standards such as WebSockets.
