The information giant faces the classic innovator's dilemma as rivals armed with cool new technologies try to disrupt the disrupter.

"... Xignite's Stephane Dubois stresses the importance of rationalization. To satisfy what its CEO describes as the industry's "obsession" with cost, Xignite has built a repository of market data that sits in the cloud. This cuts costs, Dubois says, by eliminating the massive" redundancy and repetition of data sets that characterise finance today, both within firms and from one firm to the next. According to Dubois, Xignite has more than 1,000 clients, including several big banks and Bloomberg itself, which hosts some of its own data in its nominal rival's cloud..."
